38: Happy first week in October

First happy thing in October is to have out National Day holiday. Luckily I did not need to work on that day and can have a whole day sleep. Seems wasteful, but necessary.

Oct 4

The happiest, needless to say, is my birthday on Oct 4. First greeting was received from my brother which was a sms sent when he was taking the bus to school, but I was still in deep sleep. Then after I woke up and got out for work, I received several sms from my friends as well. This made my journey to work all smiling. After arrived at office and opened msn, a lot of colleagues and friends also send greetings and chat with me. In that morning nearly two-thirds of the time was used for msn and had not much mood to work. Then we went to a restaurant to have lunch with colleagues and they said I no need to take out my wallet, very happy again. In the afternoon, had better mood to work although still playing msn. At 530, my manager asked me why I was still working. I guess he allowed me to leave, but I decided not to leave so early as I also needed to leave early on Oct 5. Finally I left at 8, it was acceptable, and then had a nice dinner.

Oct 5

My fund investment agent gave me two free movie tickets for “Inconvenient Truth” before, so I dated my friend to watch the movie. I left office at 715 and arrived at Festival Walk before the movie started. We each had a coupon for a big basket of popcorn and a can of iced tea. The movie was about how human beings caused damages to the Earth since it exists. It was very academic, like a geography lecture, full of data, charts and photos, so we fell asleep for a while, since we rushed there from work and had not taken dinner yet. The environment and atmosphere in the movie theatre were so soft that falling asleep was very easy for persons like us. The movie was meaningful yet a bit boring. I was astonished by the actor’s enthusiasm and profound knowledge on the planet and global warming. His presentation style and tone were influential but not emotional. Finally I ate less than one-third of the big basket of popcorn and I put it to another big basket inevitably.

Oct 6

Today is the day before the Mid Autumn and we are entitled to leave two hours earlier, i.e., at 330. All of us again had no mood to work today well from the morning and the productivity today is nearly zero. A colleague suddenly suggested having a big lunch today so we ordered pizza to eat in office and totally we had 13 heads to support.

When it was 1230, the food still not yet arrived so we decided to ring up pizza hut. Suddenly we got a call from them and the man said the pizza boy motorbike crashed on the road and all food was damaged. Very afraid, isn’t it? The man said they will make the food again and they finally arrived at 1. Pizza hut is very efficient, rite? We had 4 pizzas, 7 sets of rice and spaghettis, 2 sets of chicken wings, many cans of soft drinks, really like having a Christmas party and each person only need to pay $53. We had out Mid Autumn party in the open audit area and some colleagues also saw us laughing very happily. We first take a photo in front of the food. Each of us just stood near the food and then eats pizzas using hands and eats rice using the aluminum paper cards covering the food, although basic, really funny. This experience was really enjoyable and we ate until 135 which passed the lunch hour, so many colleagues could see us having the nice food and we saw their envying eyes. Haha….

Tomorrow is the wedding day of my cousin brother. His family is our closest relative in Hong Kong so each of us in my family treats it as an important event. My grandma was busy in preparing the red packets and those traditional stuff. My mum was busy in choosing and ironing clothes for my dad. She always says dad’s taste is bad and old so we have to make him up. Say, I have chosen 2 ties for him, one is brown (more formal) and one is red (more bright). We all choose the red one but only he chooses the dark one, so finally of course use the red one and my mum again laughed at his old taste. I was also busy in choosing which shirt(s) to wear and choosing clothes for my brother in the wardrobe. He is young and no need to wear suits, but at the same time, cannot wear very casual clothes, so I finally lent my brand new straight-stripped jacket to him. I just bought it last week so I reminded him not to make it dirty, otherwise he will be ……

This week is very fulfilling and had many happy things happened on me. I remembered Oct 5 in last year was the last day in my former audit firm and I went to Taiwan and Thailand with my good and lovely friends afterwards. I hope the October of every coming year will be fruitful and memorable. Of course it will be the best if every day in the year is happy day. Haha……
